Conference: History of PH

Release Date: 10.24.2012

Learn about the development of the first treatment for pulmonary hypertension (PH), the advancement of the understanding of the disease, and Dr. Robyn Barst’s commitment to advancing care for pediatric PH patients. Hear first-hand from Dr. Barst of the pivotal moments that prompted her interest in this field, and from her colleagues about the tremendous contributions she has made to a rare disease community.

Nine treatments are now approved for adults affected by PH, but none have been approved for children. That's why Dr. Barst provided the founding gifts to establish the Robyn Barst Pediatric Research and Mentoring Fund. As a pediatric cardiologist, she has been acutely aware that much more needs to be done to improve the treatment of children with pulmonary hypertension.
