Nearly all patients who have a suspicion for PAH will undergo right heart catheterization. Not only is the right heart catheterization required to establish the diagnosis of PAH but also serves to clasify the severity of disease and guide therapeutic decisions. Several hemodynamic measures offer important clues with regard to both prognosis and also fluid volume status. The careful evaluation of ongoing hemodynamics aid both the provider and patient when making important decsions regarding intitial and future therapy.
