Upon graduation, Melisa worked as a nurse practitioner in pulmonology and critical care. In 2007, she worked in cardiology, sub-specializing in pulmonary hypertension. During this time she has served on the PHPN board on the Symposium Committee and eventually chaired this committee. In July of 2012 her career has become fully dedicated to caring for families living with pulmonary hypertension. As the PH coordinator for Orlando Regional Medical Center, her focus is bridging inpatient and outpatient care, staff, patient, and community education. Ultimately, this makes her community a safer environment for those living with PAH.

  • PHPN: Holistic Assessment of the New Patient With Pulmonary Hypertension: The Role of the Non-Physician Clinician Pulmonary hypertension (PH) does not discriminate based on social support, health literacy, emotional bandwidth, or socioeconomic status. Evaluating these factors provides an elemental foundation to best foster the patient’s adherence and success. The non-physician clinician plays a pivotal role in assessment of the new patient.
