Traci Stewart has clinical expertise in management of pulmonary hypertension (PH) and heart failure (HF) patients. Her focus is on patient education and coordinating care in the inpatient and outpatient care settings. She assists with clinical research for HF and PH trials. She serves as a nurse leader in the Cardiomyopathy Treatment Program and community by providing disease management education. She is actively involved in development of new treatment protocols within the hospital and provides HF and PH orientation to newly hired nurses. She is a member of the AAHFN publication and PHRN education committees.

  • Comfort for the Messenger: Navigating Difficult Discussions in Pulmonary Hypertension We all know the importance of palliative care in PH. But how do you actually incorporate palliative care into patient care? This session will provide strategies to give health care providers in the PH community the skills to have essential conversations with patients with PH. Through case studies, attendees will practice starting theses conversations and responding to challenges communicating with patients with chronic illness and their caregivers. Attendees will leave with a practical framework for holding these discussions.
  • Diuretics in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (Nursing) In this course, nurse participants will describe right heart physiology and function, identify signs and symptoms of heart failure, contrast diuretic properties, appraise risks associated with diuretics, utilize interviewing strategies to obtain history by phone, and apply techniques to manage fluid retention in patients.
  • Diuretics in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (Pharmacy) In this course, pharmacy and pharmacy technician participants will describe right heart physiology and function, identify signs and symptoms of heart failure, contrast diuretic properties, appraise risks associated with diuretics, utilize interviewing strategies to obtain history by phone, and apply techniques to manage fluid retention in patients.
  • Diuretics in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (Respiratory Therapy) In this course, respiratory therapy participants will describe right heart physiology and function, identify signs and symptoms of heart failure, contrast diuretic properties, appraise risks associated with diuretics, utilize interviewing strategies to obtain history by phone, and apply techniques to manage fluid retention in patients.
  • Filtering Through the Facts: Portopulmonary Hypertension This session will focus on portal hypertension (PoPH) and complications common to this patient population. A review of PAH medications and precautions specific to PoPH patients will be discussed. Nursing strategies specific to caring for PoPH patients will be explored.
