Winifred Teuteberg, MD, a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine brings her expertise in palliative care to this discussion of some of the factors of palliative care that affect PH patients including an understanding of when it is appropriate to refer a patient to palliative care and some of the obstacles that may prevent a healthcare provider from referring a patient.

Palliative care can offer patients opportunities to improve quality of life, if the barriers to proper care and the nature of palliative care is correctly understood. PHA Online University is proud to host Winifred Teuteburg, MD, an expert on palliative care, as she helps to bring a better understanding of palliative care and hospice care.  In this webinar Dr. Teuteberg will:

Dr. Teuteberg is an assistant professor of medicine in the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics, Division of General Internal Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is the medical director of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute Palliative Care Outpatient Clinic and of the Palliative Care Service at Magee-Womens Hospital. Dr. Teuteberg has presented lectures and authored book chapters on the topic of palliative care and heart disease. She completed medical school at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before joining the faculty at University of Pittsburgh in 2004.
