October 12 - 13, 2012
Boston Public Library
700 Boylston Street
Boston, MA 02116
Dear Colleague,
The right ventricle has suffered for much too long as an "orphan" but we now recognize that the sequelae of many conditions, such as pulmonary arterial hypertension, congenital heart disease and chronic left ventricular failure, are determined largely by their effects upon the right heart. In this regard, we bring you an international multidisciplinary conference to address the breadth and depth of this newly emerging focus in our Right Heart Failure Summit (RHFS) - to impart the scientific basis and clinical tools essential to understand and combat right heart disease.
The RHFS is an unprecedented expert forum – imparting incisive pathophysiological knowledge and real-world clinical strategies to optimally manage the effects of right heart failure stemming from multiple pathways, including pulmonary hypertension (both arterial and venous), adults with congenital heart disease (both uncorrected and repaired) and left heart failure (both as a consequence of the disease and in the setting of partial support as with a left ventricular assist device). A special feature will be to bring world experts in these different sentinel disorders to share their varied expertise and inform each other on optimal care for these patients.
I would like to bring to your attention several Key Note Features including a special Introduction by Dr. Eugene Braunwald (Distinguished Hersey Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Founding Chairman, TIMI Study Group, Brigham and Women's Hospital) and cutting edge lectures on Repairing and Growing New Lungs by Dr. Shaf Keshavjee (Surgeon-in-Chief, Director, Toronto Lung Transplant Program, Toronto, Canada) and unique innovative transcatheter approaches to rescuing the right heart failure by Dr. James Lock (Chairman, Department of Cardiology, Boston Children's Hospital, Alexander S. Nadas Professor of Pediatrics).
In addition, you will have the opportunity to:
Please join us, along with many world-renowned expert faculty in the historical setting of the Boston Public Library in one of the world's most beautiful cities.
We look forward to your participation at the 2012 program in Boston! The link to the program for information and registration is:
