Educational Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the present understanding of the relationship between obesity and illness course in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
  2. Define the potential role for bariatric surgery in patients who have exhausted their response to non-surgical weight loss and maximized PAH therapy without achieving their treatment goals.
  3. Discuss the risks and other considerations regarding candidate selection for bariatric surgery in the setting of PAH.
  4. Analyze the outcomes of previous cases of bariatric surgery to gain insights into patients' response to the procedure.

This continuing education activity is provided through a Joint-Providership Agreement between The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) and Professional Education Services Group (PESG).
